Meet the grower: Houwenplant

Houwenplant is a family business that was founded in 1974. The company has been focussing on growing Anthuriums since 2008, and is now a market leader. The company grows nine pot sizes in specialised locations. Houwenplant regularly introduce new varieties. Houwenplant complies with all certifications with the production of its Anthuriums. It is thereby Global G.A.P. Chain of Custody certified. It has recently started offering products under the Fair Floral label. Topic of the month: novelties

A new year marks a new cycle with new opportunities. We are starting this year by highlighting novelties from our sector. In December 2020 a lot of awards were presented to companies with new products or useful and sustainable concepts, such as the Glazen Tulp Awards and the Greenovation Award. There are also two online trade fairs this month at which many novelties will be presented. Alongside the information that you can find on this page, we also share a lot on our social media channels. All these initiatives and fabulous products definitely give us fresh energy - hopefully they will do the same for you. We hope you enjoy reading it!

In December of this year our company well be marking its 60th birthday - a cause for celebration! 2021 is therefore all about this anniversary. Throughout the year we will be looking back with you over the past 60 years, in which a lot of remarkable things have happened. For example, did you know that Heemskerk Flowers was the first flower wholesaler to start selling flowers and plants online? Or that our founder, Bert Heemskerk senior, also used to dye flowers himself?

Topic of the month: Trend Human Touch

The growth of technology and the climate crisis are worrying us; as a result we have a need for friendliness, familiarity and recognisability. Humanity is more important than ever now, including for products and brands. Think of rounded and organic shapes and a warm and friendly colour palette. These trends are the basis for the ‘Human Touch’ style trend. We would like to show you some examples of this trend, and thereby hope to inspire you to get to work with this trend yourself as well.
